Fingerprinting services for FBI background checks and more.

What Is Electronic Fingerprinting?

Electronic fingerprinting, also known as a live scan, is an inkless, electronic means of capturing fingerprints in a digitized format and then transmitting them to a state repository such as the New York State Police and/or the FBI. Fingerprints were previously taken by applying ink to each finger and then rolling each finger on a fingerprint card. This method was messy and resulted in capturing poor quality images. Processing fingerprints electronically allows criminal history responses to be provided within a matter of hours if received electronically or 3 -5 days if received by mail.

How Electronic Fingerprinting Process Works

Electronic fingerprinting works by capturing your fingerprints by using proprietary live scan technology

The process begins with identifying the reason you need to make a fingerprinting appointment. Live Scan fingerprints are generally required for electronic submissions to various state agencies, programs, and industries. Examples include an FBI background check or submission to FINRA or FDLE. Next, find the most convenient PrintScan location and choose the most appropriate service to fit your need! Finish the process by making an appointment and filling out the pre enrollment information form.
